11. Drumstick
Scott loves to play a number of instruments including the drums, mandolin, ukulele, and accordion. Throughout the years, he has been in many bands and particularly loves playing with this brother Steve, when they get the chance. Growing up, Erin was also very musically inclined and played flute and piano. Scott taught Erin how to play the drums and the couple loves making music together.
1. Crayola Crayons
The fact that Erin is a Toy Designer is what intrigued Scott most about Erin when first meeting her. Erin has worked as a Toy Designer at Crayola for about 4 years now. She loves being with such a colorful company and using her creativity and imagination to inspire the creativity and imagination in aspiring little artists.
3. Scott's Glasses
Scott first realized he needed glasses when he went for his motorcycle driving test and failed. Like Erin, Scott very much views his glasses as an extension of his personality.
2. Erin's Glasses
Erin has been wearing glasses since she was in kindergarten. Although she disliked wearing them as an adolescent, she has now come to see them as part of her identity. Don’t be surprised to see her wearing them at the wedding!
4. Latte
For Scott and Erin’s first date, Scott suggested The Joint Coffeeshop in downtown Bethlehem. As the dreary rain poured outside, the couple started to “fall in like” as they sipped their warm tea and vanilla latte. The two still regularly frequent The Joint and always think fondly of their first time at the coffeeshop together.
5. Cider
Strongbow was Erin’s drink of choice when studying abroad in England as a Junior in college. On their second date, Scott and Erin went on a walk with Zoe along the Lehigh Canal Towpath. Afterwards, Scott reintroduced Erin to her love of cider with drinks at The Wooden Match.
6. Magic Trick
Scott has been fascinated by magic since he was a kid. As children, he, his twin brother, Steve, and friend Rob, formed a magic trio and performed magic shows for birthday parties, church functions, and other get-togethers. Now all grown up, Scott still enjoys entertaining people with his tricks. On their third date, Scott performed his first magic trick for Erin at the restaurant Corked. Erin has been amazed by his illusions ever since.
7. BMW Isetta
Once Scott introduced Erin to the quirky, little 1957 Isetta car, she absolutely fell in love with it – mainly because it is so reminiscent of a toy! Knowing how fond Erin was of it, Scott bought the little red car for the two of them to bop around Bethlehem. Izzy’s small size and bright color definitely turn a few heads when the two go out on the town!
8. Toy Camera
One day Erin and Scott were walking through Target and happened on a stuffed tiger. Erin immediately fell in love with the plush toy. Scott later said, “Erin looked at that tiger in a way I had never seen before.” The two were clearly sharing a special moment together. But being the practical person Erin is, she decided against purchasing the tiger. Scott later went back to buy the stuffed toy for Erin, but by then it was gone! After much frantic searching online, Scott finally found the little guy on Ebay. Erin was very happy to receive the tiger for a Valentine’s gift and promptly named him Tiger, per Scott’s suggestion.
The happy moment was short lived, however, because Tiger went missing soon after! Erin discovered a note that he had apparently left on the bed; in red crayon, the note read: “I’m sorry I had to go. I went exploring.” Confused and a bit concerned, Erin could only wait and hope Tiger would show up soon. As the weeks went by, Erin began receiving postcards in the mail from Tiger; each one a selfie of Tiger in front of some impressive national monument, beautiful scenery, or historic landmark. On each postcard, Tiger would write of his adventures in red crayon, telling all the fun and exciting places he was seeing and new people he was meeting. And although Erin was very happy for Tiger, she still missed him terribly.
Then one day in early April (which happened to be Erin and Scott’s one year anniversary), Tiger returned! In one hand he carried a teal suitcase full of British cookies and tea and around his neck, a camera, which he had been using to capture all of his travels. Erin was very happy to have Tiger back and was impressed with not only all of his gorgeous postcards, but handcrafted suitcase and camera. Although Erin thought very highly of Tiger’s abilities, she suspected Scott might have helped the little guy with the travel plans and new accessories. But then again, she didn’t want to overthink it.
9. Photo Strip
One of Scott and Erin’s first vacations together was to Cape May. The couple had a relaxing few days soaking up the sunrays and frequenting the boardwalk. There they found a photobooth to capture their time at the beach.
10. Morgan Three-Wheeler
Knowing that one of Scott’s favorite car designs is the Morgan Three Wheeler, Erin designed, 3D printed, and painted this toy car as a Christmas gift a few years back. Both Erin and Scott love using their artistic abilities and creating handmade gifts for each other.
12. Storybook
Scott is a very talented, hard-working graphic designer. One of the biggest projects Scott has ever taken on was writing and illustrating a storybook to use when proposing to Erin. The book beautifully depicts the couple’s adventures and all the hopes and dreams of their future lives together.
13. Engagement Ring
After graduating from Allegheny College, Erin received an amazing opportunity to intern at Clarksons Fine Jewellery Makers of Edinburgh, Scotland with her cousin Melinda’s husband, Michael. This experience opened Erin’s eyes to the world of 3D modeling and put her on the path to discovering a career in toy design. Knowing just how invaluable Erin’s experience was at Clarksons, Scott knew that he wanted Michael to handcraft Erin’s engagement ring. So Scott reached out to Michael from across the pond and they had many a lengthy email exchange to ensure the perfect ring for Erin. Erin couldn’t be happier! Both the beauty of the ring and the story behind it make it extra special.
14. Pittsburgh Botanic Garden
